Podcasts seem to be all the rage these days and are the new form of books! One of my favourite PB (pre-children) activities used to be reading anything and everything horse related from books to blogs, but adult life is BUSY y’all. Being an adult with children, well just forget about it. I may as well burn my books, magazines and computer. Because between work, my side hustles, study commitments and raising my children I don’t have time for much else. Heck, I just manage to squeeze in a weekly riding! But, because I’m a mama I’m resourceful and a super multi-tasker… and thanks to those newfound skills, and some accidental googling I stumbled across something that lets me get that horse-related info fix AND doesn’t really require me to take any time out of my day. SAY WHAT?! The secret …. horse podcasts.
What are horse podcasts?
A podcast is a little bit like a radio show, except it’s better because you can download it to your computer or to your phone and take it with you anywhere. You can listen to it when you’re ready, press pause when the kids interrupt you, and you can go back and listen to them over and over, again and again.
The great thing about podcasts is that you can literally listen to them anywhere… my favourite place to listen to my fave horse podcasts are in the car when I’m driving to get my baby to sleep (who doesn’t do that?!) and while I’m at work doing boring tasks like putting away filing. I’ve had other mums tell me they listen to them in the last hour before bed, on their daily commute or when the kids are at their weekend sporting activities.
So without further ado here are my top 8 horse podcasts…
Daily Strides Podcast
The Daily Strides Podcast by Lorna Leeson helps to bring structure and planning back into the listeners schooling and training sessions. The great thing about this podcast is that every week has an original theme and each episode can stand alone, so you can literally go through and pick out the episodes that interest you.
The Horse Podcast
THP speaks to the very core of who I am with their podcast description, “this is for those of you who want something interesting to listen to while you’re getting the dinner ready or driving in your car”. It’s like they’ve recorded them just for me! The informal style of this podcast is what makes this one of my absolute faves because it feels like you’re sitting down with friends not just being spoken to. There’s only 7 eps currently, but I’m holding out for more!
Horsemanship Radio
One of my favourite things to learn about is good horsemanship and that’s probably why this podcast makes the top of my list. The show is hosted by Debbie Loucks (who is Monty Roberts daughter) and features tips and interviews relating to horsemanship.
Horse Tip Daily
Horse Tip Daily is a great podcast for information collectors because it covers a wide range of equestrian related topics, with everything from health to training.

These are my top fave 8 horse podcasts, perfect for the busy mama!
The Stable Scoop
The Stable Scoop produces a new piece of content every week and offer a great variety of topics, including horse news and interviews. This one is great for those who prefer to listen to podcasts that feel more like radio shows.
Horses in the Morning
Horses in the Morning haven’t produced any new content since 2015, but they have a library with over 300 episodes so there is a tonne of goodness there waiting to be listened to. Their episodes are both entertaining and informative, they feature a range of guests and cover a huge range of topics.
Horsing Around
Horse Around is an older podcast, with no new content posted since 2012 BUT it is the perfect podcast for those who are new to the horse world. They’ll take you through all their is to know about horse ownership and caring for your equine partner. Even though I’ve been riding since a teen, I LOVE this podcast because there is always something new to learn.
Horse Girl TV
Horse Girl TV is a podcast that is suitable for equestrians of all ages and skill levels. There hasn’t been any new content here since 2017 but the content that is there is pure gold. They have some pretty killer interviews with people who work in the horse industry, as well as lots of informational podcasts.
So there you have it, my 8 favourite horse podcasts. If you listen to any horse podcasts that you think I should know about, please let me know in the comments below!
